RSS Feed
The Nucleus Sermon Engine generates a unique RSS feed to help you create a podcast for the sermon audio that you've uploaded. You may be wondering, though, "What the heck is an RSS feed and how does it help me get my podcast on the internet?" Well, you've come to the right place 👌
What's An RSS Feed?
Put simply, an RSS Feed (Rich Site Summary Feed) is the connection between a podcast host (your Sermon Engine) and a podcast directory (e.g. Apple/iTunes, Google, Spotify, etc.). More specifically, an RSS feed is comprised of documents that can be updated regularly (such as audio media items), syndicating all your media items to multiple podcast directories at the same time.
Important Definitions
Podcast Host: The platform where you upload your audio files and generate your RSS feed. (This is what the Sermon Engine is.)
Podcast Directory: The platform where you syndicate your RSS feed to, and where listeners can subscribe to your podcast. (This is what Apple/iTunes, Google Play, and Spotify are.)
Syndicate: To distribute information to multiple broadcasting platforms.
How Do I Generate An RSS Feed?
Creating an RSS feed is made simple with the Nucleus Sermon Engine. In fact, it's so simple that it's automatically generated for you!
After you've enabled the podcast toggle in your Podcast Settings panel, you'll see an automatically generated URL ending in: /feed.rss. It'll look something like this 👇
IMPORTANT: It is always recommended to use the secure version of your RSS feed when syndicating to podcast directories. A secure version will always begin with https:// whereas a non-secure version will always begin with http://. If your overall Nucleus/Sermon Engine has an SSL certificate installed, your RSS feed will also be secure.
