Step #3: Installing a SSL Certificate

Welcome to the third and final step! Here we'll walk you through on obtaining a SSL Certificate for your site!

Keep in mind...

  • If you don't have a Custom Domain, or haven't configured your DNS Settings, go back and read Step #1: Custom Domains and DNS Settings, or haven't paired your Domain and Nucleus, check out Step #2: Domain Nucleus Settings. Once you've completed Step #1 and 2, you're ready for the third and final step: Installing a SSL Certificate.

Take me back to Step #2

Why do you need a SSL?

A SSL, or Secure Socket Layer, protects your site from people trying to steal data, or hack in. It will protect any sensitive information that is shared in Nucleus (ie. credit card numbers) from unapproved parties.

It will also improve your website's searchability within search engines. Which is huge, when you are trying to get your churches website found by prospective visitors!

You'll know the difference between a secure site and an insecure site by the URL of whatever site you're visiting. A secure site always begins with https:// whereas an insecure site always begins with http:// (the difference simply being the "s").

Step #3: Obtaining a SSL Certificate

Getting a SSL is the easiest part of this process. You can purchase one from your Domain Registrar (ie. GoDaddy) But why would you buy one when Nucleus will give it to you for free! That's right, once you've completed Step #1 and 2, reach out to us at hello@nucleus.church, and we can install one within minutes. It's that easy!

And that's it! Your Nucleus' Domain is all ready to go!
