Browsing Through The Nucleus Media Library

Browsing through our expansive library of stock video footage is easy! In this article, we'll explore how to search for scenes and clips, and how to use filters to scale down the amount of footage you're looking through.


Important definitions


Clip

Clips are individual footage files, generally 20 seconds in length. A clip may be 1080p graded, 4K graded, or 4K ungraded. These video clips are meant to be downloaded and used for your various video projects.

Scene

A  scene is a collection of clips that are generally filmed together to help tell a cohesive story. Clips in a scene will be similar in nature. Singular clips are never added to the library, rather entire scenes are added regularly throughout each month.

Tags

Each clip and scene has several tags associated with it. Tags are keywords that are related to a particular clip or scene. This aids in helping search for clips and scenes with words that might not be found in their titles/names.

Library

The library is the collection of all scenes in the Nucleus Media database. This is where you can browse through scenes to find the perfect clip you're looking to use for your next video project.

Accessing the media library

There are two ways to access the Nucleus Media Library:

  • Going to the following web address in your internet browser: media.nucleus.church
  • Accessing it while logged in your Nucleus Dashboard. To do this, hover over Media in the main menu and click on 'Stock Video'.

  • Then click on 'All Videos' under the Stock Video header on the left hand side

From there, you'll be taken to the library of over 20,000 clips for you to browse and download.


Exploring the features


Search

You can search for scenes or individual clips by typing key words. As you type, Nucleus will automatically begin searching for scenes or clips with that word (or multiple words) in their title.

Filters

Instead of searching for keywords, you can search for clips and scenes with filters. Aside from tags, each clip/scene are marked by specific characteristics. By selecting certain characteristics, you filter the library to only show you clips/scenes that fit within those parameters. 

My Dashboard

Going to the Nucleus Media Library takes you out from your Nucleus Dashboard. To go back to your Dashboard at any time, click My Dashboard. This will take you directly to your Downloaded Panel, where you can view all your past downloaded clips from the Nucleus Media Library.

Scenes

The Nucleus Media Library is organized to show the most recently uploaded scenes at the top. Instead of using the search field or filters to browse through the library, you can always scroll down to browse the most recent scenes.

Keep in mind...

  • You can hover your cursor over a scene and view various still images from the scene. This gives you a brief overview of the types of clips in that specific scene.


Using the search bar

To search through the Nucleus Media Library...

1. Click on the Search button.

2. Begin typing in the Start Searching... field. As you type, scenes/clips with those specific keywords will appear below.

3. To clear your search words, revealing the entire library again, click the X beside the results.


Using the filters

To browse the library using the filters...

1. Click on the Filters button.

2. Select as many of the filter options as you'd like.

3. As you select them, you will see how many scenes and clips fit within those filter parameters. To view those scenes, click the See Results button.

4. To clear your filters, revealing the entire library again, click the X beside the results.

Inside a scene

Now that we know how to search for clips/scenes, let's take a look within a scene.

To view a scene, simply click on one of the search results.

Once inside, you will see:

  • The total clip count for that scene
  • The scene title
  • The scene description
  • All the clips associated with the scene (found at the bottom)

To view all the clips in the scene, scroll down to reveal each one. You'll first be greeted by all the matching clips in the scene according to the search keywords or filters you put in place.

Continue to scroll down to browse all the remaining clips in the scene that don't match your search/filter parameters, but are still included in the scene.

Keep in mind...

  • You can hover your cursor over a clip and view an entire preview of it. While it's a small rectangle, this can give a good enough preview of the clip to let you know whether you wish to download it.

To go back to the original browse screen, click Browse in the top left corner.


Inside a clip

Taking a look inside a scene might be nice, but let's take a closer look at a singular clip.

To view the details of a particular clip, simply click on the clip (just as you had clicked on the scene from the main browse page).

Once inside, you will see...

  • A preview of the clip in a repeating loop
  • The clip length
  • The title of the clip
  • A download button
  • A few other clips from this scene (found at the bottom)

To go back to browse all clips from the scene, click on Scene.

Downloading a video clip

Once you've found the perfect clip, you'll probably want to download it. You can do this in three easy steps!

1. In the individual clip page, click the Download button.

2. In the light box that appears, select the format you wish to download. At most, there will be five different options to choose from.

3. Click the Download Now button. Your video should start downloading immediately to your device.

From there, you can choose to go back to browsing other clips in the scene by clicking on Back to Scene. Or you can go back to the main browse page by clicking Go to Browse.


Keep in mind...

  • If you don't yet have an account, you can browse everything in the Nucleus Media Library, but you will not be able to download any clip. To sign up for a free 30-day trial, no credit card required, click here.
  • If you don't wish to commit to downloading one of the three proper versions of the video clip (that being 1080p h.264 - Graded, 4K ProRes - Ungraded, and 4K ProRes - Graded), you can always download a preview version to test out in your video project.
  • You can easily access a list of all your downloaded clips by clicking the My Dashboard button. This will take you to your Downloaded Clips Panel. To learn more about this, click here.
